ソードのキング King of Swords
Waite はソードのキングを、鞘から抜いた剣を手に裁きの座に着く人物の図柄とし、大アルカナの正義を想起させるが、むしろ職務ゆえの生殺与奪の力だとしている。正位置の意味には裁きの観念から生じるすべて、すなわち権力、指揮、権威、闘争的な知性、法、王室の官職を挙げ、逆位置には残酷、邪悪、野蛮、背信、悪意を置いている。
